JASHORE, July 4, 2025 (BSS) - A schoolboy was killed after being struck by lightning while playing football in the rain at the Ichhali Kamarganna Government Primary School ground under Sadar upazila of the district this morning.

The deceased was identified as Mishkat Rahman Sultan, 12, son of Russel Hossain of Kamarganna village and a sixth-grade student at Ichhali High School.

Sultan's father, Russel Hossain, said his son was playing football with friends on the school ground during the rain when a thunderbolt hit him.

"We took him to Jashore General Hospital, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead," he said.
