RANGPUR, July 4, 2025 (BSS) - The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-13 in a
special operation today arrested three persons accused in sensational Patgram
police station vandalism, attack on police members, police station looting
and sabotage case.
The RAB-13's Sadar Company and Crime Prevention Specialised Company and Crime
Prevention Company-2 from its Nilphamari Camp jointly conducted the operation
in the Patgram police station area of Lalmonirhat district at 7 am, said a
press release this evening.
During the operation, the elite force arrested three people on charges of
obstructing the performance of official duties, kidnapping arrested accused,
assaulting government employees and threatening to kill, as per Patgram
police station case No 3, dated July 4, 2025.
The arrestees are: Md Maidul Islam, 32, of village Harirampur (Battola), Md A
Rashid, 35, and Abul Kalam, 52, of village Sohagpur under Patgram police
station of Lalmonirhat.
Earlier, Patgram Upazila Nirbahi Officer with SI Syed Sakhawat of Patgram
police station conducted a mobile court against illegal extortion from
various transports carrying stones and sand from different places in Patgram
upazila on July 2 at 8 pm.
The mobile court during the raid arrested two persons namely Md Belal and
Sohel for collecting extortion from stone and sand transporters.
The court sentenced both of them to one month's imprisonment when the accused
were taken to Patgram police station.
"At about 10:55 pm on July 2, 2025, after the accused were brought to Patgram
police station, the illegal mob attacked the police station and all the
police members to snatch the accused," the release said.
At one stage, when police tried to resist, they disobeyed and managed to
snatch the two accused away, destroying important items at the police
station, such as laptops, printers, furniture, and important government
files, while also assaulting police members.
The illegal mob entered the police station after vandalizing the police
station vehicle and stole important items of the police station.
At that time, the police members on duty opened fire. Even then, the illegal
mob intimidated and threatened the police members and took the accused away.
During this time, several other police members, including the officer-in-
charge of the police station, were injured.
The arrested accused persons were later handed over to the concerned police
station for legal action, the release added.
