1,000 underprivileged students to get umbrellas in Bandarban

BANDARBAN, July 17, 2025 (BSS) - As part of its rural infrastructure and protection program, Bandarban Municipality has begun distribution of umbrellas among 1,000 underprivileged students across 15 schools in the municipality.

Municipality Administrator S.M. Manjurul Haque inaugurated the distribution program as the chief guest at a function at Bandarban Government High School on Wednesday.

In his address, Manjurul Haque urged students to focus on their studies and pursue quality education to help build a prosperous and beautiful Bangladesh. 

He also expressed hope of launching scholarship programs in the future for students' welfare.

The event was attended by Head Teacher of Bandarban Government High School Muhammad Sirajul Islam, Assistant Head Teacher Sampad Barua, Municipality Administrative Officer Karuna Kanti Barua and Accounting Officer Md Nurul Amin Chowdhury, along with teachers and students.

According to municipal sources, this umbrella distribution initiative follows the installation of 10 water filters in 10 different schools within the municipality to ensure access to safe drinking water.
