KISHOREGANJ, July 17, 2025 (BSS)- A court here today awarded life-term imprisonment to 13 people including nine members of a family for killing a trader in Karimganj upazila of the district in 2016.

District and Sessions Judge of Kishoreganj Muhammad Nurul Amin Biplob announced the verdict in presence of seven accused of the case.

The court also fined Taka 10,000 each of the convicts, in default to suffer more six months in jail.
Advocate Jalal Uddin, Public Prosecutor (PP) of the district told journalists that seven out of 13 convicts were present before the court during the pronouncement of the judgment. 

According to the prosecution Syed Ali (30), son of Haji Sundar Ali of Deopur village under Karimganj upazila was killed by the convicts near Niamotpur bus stand on March 23, 2016 centering on a previous enmity. 

Parvin Sultana, elder sister of Syed Ali on March 25 filed the case with Karimganj thana.

Police after investigation submitted the charge sheet on September 21, 2016 accusing 13 people for the murder.
