Arms trader detained with firearm in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, July 17, 2025 (BSS - Chattogram District Police have detained an alleged arms trader and recovered both local and foreign-made weapons, ammunition, tools, and a large amount of cash from his possession during a raid in Barumchhara area under Anwara upazila of the district today.

The detainee was identified as Md Abdul Majid, son of the late Haji Muslim Ahmad Chowdhury of Barumchhara in the upazila.

Mohammad Russell, additional superintendent of Chattogram District Police, said that based on secret information a police team, led by Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Monir Hossain of Anwara thana, conducted the raid at Abdul Majid's residence early in the morning and recovered the arms, ammunition and Tk 365,000 in cash from his possession. 

During the primary interrogation, he confessed that he has been involved in illegal arms trading for a long time.
