Jamaat holds rally in Narsingdi ahead of national rally

Narsingdi, July 18, 2025 (BSS)- The Narsingdi City Unit of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami today held a rally and brought out a precession in support of the centrally announced national rally at the historic Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital Dhaka scheduled to be held on tomorrow.

The procession started around 10:00am from the Shikkha Chattar area in Brahmondi of Narsingdi city. It paraded through important roads of the city and ended in front of the Narsingdi Press Club, where a brief rally was held.

Around 200 party leaders and activists participated in the programme.

Narsingdi City Jamaat Ameer Azizur Rahman presided over the event, while Sadar unit Ameer Mahfuz Bhuiyan conducted it.

District Secretary General Vice Principal Maulana Amzad Hossain, Assistant District Secretary General Mokbul Hossain, Jamaat-nominated MP candidate for Narsingdi Sadar-1 Md Ibrahim Bhuiyan, and Islami Chhatra Shibir's Jameya Qasemia Kamil Madrasah unit president Mojahid Hossain addressed the rally.

The speakers said, "The rally has now turned into a mass movement aimed at restoring the people's right to vote and establishing Islamic values. The participation of hundreds of thousands at tomorrow's national assembly in Dhaka will prove that."

They also said the movement seeks to restore democracy, ensure a level playing field in elections, and press for a 7-point demand including proportional representation. The leaders urged full preparation to make the July 19 Dhaka rally a success.
