Three drug peddlers held with 14 kg hemp in Joypurhat

JOYPURHAT, Aug 2, 2025 (BSS) - Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) during a drive early this morning arrested three alleged drug peddlers and seized 14 kg of hemp from the Sonamukhi area of Akkelpur upazila in the district.
 
The arrestees are Akkel Ali, 32, son of Zakir Hossain, from Tetulia village in Badalgachhi upazila of Naogaon district; his wife Rajena Khatun, 26; and Marjina Khatun, 28, wife of Kabil of the same area.
 
Acting on a tip-off, a team of RAB-5 conducted a raid in the area and arrested them along with the hemp, RAB sources said.
 
They belong to an inter-district organized drug gang. They had been collecting drugs from various areas for a long time and selling them to different dealers.
 
A case was filed with Akkelpur Police Station in this connection.
