Five killed as train hits autorickshaw in Cox's Bazar

COX'S BAZAR, Aug 2, 2025 (BSS) - Five passengers, including four of a family, of a CNG-run autorickshaw were killed when a train hit the vehicle at Dhalirchara rail crossing in Rashidnagar union under Ramu upazila of the district today. 

The deceased were autorickshaw driver Habib Ullah, 50, passengers Renu Ara, 45, his sister Asma Ara, 13, Renu Ara's two sons Ashek Ullah, 3 and Ata Ullah, aged one and a half years.

The tragic accident occurred when Dhaka-bound Cox's Bazar Express train hit the autorickshaw in the area around 1.30 pm, said Taibur Rahman Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Ramu Police Station.

The train reportedly dragged the autorickshaw for nearly one kilometre.
