Three women among four nabbed with 40kg ganja in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, Aug 12, 2025 (BSS) - Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-7 arrested four drug dealers, including three women, with 40 kilograms of ganja in a raid at Jahangir Colony under Baklia thana in the city last night.

The arrestees were identified as Anwara Begum, 60, Chenwara Begum, 40, Dildar Begum, 35, and Abdul Karim, 36.

Senior Assistant Director of RAB-7 ARM Mozaffar Hossain confirmed the arrests and said the raid was conducted at a rented house in East Baklia area around Monday midnight.

According to RAB sources, the arrestees had long been collecting drugs from border areas of Cox's Bazar and Cumilla and distributing them across different parts of the country, including Chattogram and its adjoining upazilas.

During the drive, RAB members recovered 40 kg of ganja, wrapped in three plastic bags and hidden under a bed. The estimated market value of the seized contraband is around Taka six lakh.

"The arrestees, along with the seized ganja, were handed over to Baklia thana police this morning for further legal action," said ARM Mozaffar Hossain.
