Schoolboy drowns in Lalmonirhat river

LALMONIRHAT, Aug 15, 2025 (BSS) - A school student drowned in Saniyazan River at Patgram upazila in the district this afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Joy Roy, 12, son of Anil Roy of Nabinagar village of Baura union. He was a fifth-grade student at Baura Government Primary School.

According to eyewitnesses, around 2:00 pm, Joy went to the river with his friends to take a bath and drowned accidentally. 

Patgram Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mizanur Rahman said he sent a team to the spot and since the family did not file any complaint, the body will be handed over to them.
