4-day Janmastami begins in Ctg tomorrow

CHATTOGRAM, Aug 15, 2025 (BSS) – A four-day Janmastami programme, celebrating the birth anniversary of Lord Krishna, a major Hindu religious festival, will commence tomorrow in the port city and elsewhere across the country. 

The Sree Sree Janmastami Udjapan Parishad Bangladesh (SSJUPB) announced this during a press conference at the Chattogram Press Club Auditorium on Friday.
  
Liberation War Affairs Adviser and freedom fighter Bir Muktijoddha Faruk-e-Azam will inaugurate the function as the chief guest while city Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain attended the inaugural function as special guest at 10 am tomorrow. 

Spiritual leader Shrimat Rabiswarananda Puri Maharaj, head of Pachuria Tapoban Ashram, will also be present as the guest of honor.

The central committee is preparing for the Janmastami Mahashobhayatra, a historic event that will take place on August 16. The procession will start at 10 am from the Andarkilla intersection.

The procession will pass through various areas including Teribazar, Lal Dighi, Kotwali, New Market, Tin Pol, Bose Brothers, DC Hill, Cheragi Pahar, and JM Sen Hall.
 
Sorob Priya Paul, General Secretary of the central committee of SSJUP, read out the written statement at the press conference. Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, a member of the BNP's standing committee, will be the chief guest at the religious conference at 5 pm.

Former Member of Parliament Barrister Rumin Farhana will be a special guest at the mothers' conference at 3 pm tomorrow.

The organizers have announced that a grand Namojago will be held on August 17 and 18, spanning sixteen hours.

They called upon members of the Hindu community and other relevant individuals to come forward to make the celebration a success.
