Mother, son electrocuted in C'nawabganj

CHAPAINAWABGANJ, Aug 19, 2025 (BSS) - A woman and her son died from electrocution in the Chak Daulatpur area under Shibganj upazila on Monday.

The victims were identified as Mursida Khatun, 29, wife of Morsalin, and their 10-year-old son, Md. Mujahid Hossain. Both were residents of Chak Daulatpur village in the upazila.

According to local sources, the incident occurred when Mursida Khatun came into contact with a live electric wire while drying clothes in the courtyard of their home. Her son Mujahid rushed to rescue her but was also electrocuted in the process.

Locals immediately rescued the mother and son and took them to the Shibganj Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared both of them dead.

Shibganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Golam Kibria confirmed the incident.
