Illegal fishing nets seized from Karnaphuli River

CHATTOGRAM, Sept 5, 2025 (BSS) - Boalkhali upazila administration has seized 12,000 meters of illegal current nets during a drive in the Karnaphuli River in Chattogram.

The operation, conducted yesterday afternoon, was led by Mohammad Rahmat Ullah, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Boalkhali along with upazila fisheries officer Mohammad Naeem Hasan.

Upazila fisheries officer Mohammad Naeem Hasan confirmed that the team recovered 12,000 meters of illegal fishing nets from various points along the river. 

After the seizure, the nets were publicly destroyed. A team of police officials from the local station assisted in the operation.
