RAJBARI, Sept 5, 2025 (BSS) - A couple was killed in a motorcycle accident on the Dhaka-Khulna highway under Goalanda upazila of Rajbari district last night.

The deceased were identified as Sanjoy Mondal and his wife Shraboni Bhaduri.

Shamim Sheikh, officer-in-charge (OC) of the Highway Police Station, said the accident occurred around 9:30 pm when the motorcyclist lost control over it in front of Goalanda Government Technical School and College while returning from Dhaka, leaving Shraboni dead on the spot.

Locals rescued Sanjoy in critical condition and took him to Goalanda Upazila Health Complex. 

Later, he succumbed to his injuries on the way to Faridpur Medical College and Hospital as his condition deteriorated.

Dr. Kaushik Kumar Das of the Upazila Health Complex said Sanjoy suffered severe head injuries and excessive bleeding, leaving his condition critical.

Goalanda police said legal procedures are underway.
