DHAKA, Sept 05, 2025 (BSS) - Police have arrested two people with firearms and ammunition in the capital's Mirpur area.

The arrestees have been identified as Md Arif Uddin, 46, and Hafizul Islam Shamim, 46.

A team of Mirpur Thana Police arrested the duo during a raid in Section-2 under Mirpur Police Station around 11:30 pm on Thursday, said a police press release issued today.

A shotgun, a tube magazine, a bolt and bolt carrier, two body locking pins, a barrel jacket, a burnt trigger guard, and two shotgun lead cartridges were seized from their possession.

A case has been registered against them with Mirpur Police Station.

During the initial interrogation, the arrestees confessed that they had been illegally keeping weapons and cartridges in their possession for the purpose of buying and selling in collusion with the absconding accused, Nasir, 45.
