BGB nabs drug trader at Kurigram border

KURIGRAM, Sept 6, 2025 (BSS) - Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) detained a suspected drug trader and seized a large consignment of Indian narcotics during a two-day drive in the bordering areas of Kurigram.

The detainee was identified as Nurul Islam, 32, son of late Abul Kashem of Dakshin Shinjhar village under Bhurungamari upazila in the district.

Lalmonirhat Battalion-15 of BGB conducted the raid from Thursday night to Friday in Mathpara and East Ramkhana areas under Ramkhana Border Outpost (BOP).

During the drive, BGB recovered 350 bottles of Iscaf syrup, 58 bottles of phensidyl, 6 kg of marijuana and a motorcycle. 

The estimated market value of the seized items is Tk 3.86 lakh.

A case was filed against Nurul Islam with Nageshwari Police Station.

The detainee and seized narcotics were handed over to the police for further legal action.
