KHULNA, Sept 6, 2025 (BSS) - Forest officials in the Eastern Sundarbans seized a large number of banned crab traps, live crabs and a boat during a raid at Dublarchar yesterday afternoon.

According to Forest Department sources, the operation was carried out by a team led by Subrata Kumar Das, Officer-in-Charge of the Dublarchar Forest Patrol Camp, in the Ambaria canal area of the Sundarbans.

The team recovered 117 illegal crab traps, a boat and approximately 2.5 kilograms of live crabs.

Sensing the forest guards' presence, the fishermen on board fled into the dense Sundarbans.

The confiscated boat and traps were taken to the Shelar Char patrol office. The traps were later destroyed by fire and the live crabs were released back into the rivers of the Sundarbans, Subrata Kumar Das said BSS.
