Preparatory meeting of police held in Faridpur ahead of Durga Puja

FARIDPUR, Sept 18, 2025 (BSS) –Police held a preparatory meeting with the leaders of the Faridpur Puja Udjapan Committee today ahead of the upcoming Sharodiyo Durga Puja, the largest religious festival of the Hindu community.

The meeting took place at 12 noon in the conference room of the District Superintendent of Police, with Superintendent of Police (SP) Md. Abdul Jalil in the chair.

In his speech, SP Abdul Jalil said Bangladesh is a country of communal harmony and this year Durga Puja will be celebrated in 757 mandaps in Faridpur.

Of 757 mandaps, a total of 195 mandaps will be set up in Faridpur city and surrounding unions, he said, assuring that the district police will take full responsibility for ensuring a peaceful and secure celebration. 

“Multiple teams of traffic police and Ansar will be deployed to ease traffic congestion during the puja celebration,” he added.

Additional Superintendent of Police Shamsul Azam, Additional SP (Bhanga Circle) Asif Iqbal, General Secretary of District Puja Udjapan Parishad Bidhan Saha, President of Municipal Puja Udjapan Parishad Ram Dutta, General Secretary Shyamal Karmakar, as well as presidents and general secretaries of all Upazila Puja Udjapan Parishads and officers-in-charge of all police stations attended the meeting.
