MEHERPUR, Oct 15, 2025 (BSS) - A female student of Jahangirnagar University (JU) was killed in a road accident near Fatehpur Bridge in Sadar upazila here today.
The deceased was identified as Farhana Wahida Ami, 26, daughter of Abdul Wahed Chanchal of Old Post Office Para in the district town and a third year student of English Department of JU.
The accident occurred around 10 am when Ami was returning home to Ramdaspur in Sadar upazila from her father's house, riding a motorcycle with her husband.
"A sand-laden truck hit the motorcycle when it was overtaking the truck and fell under the truck, leaving Farhana Wahida died on the spot", said Sheikh Mejbah Uddin, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Meherpur Sadar Police Station.
Police recovered the body and took it to Meherpur General Hospital. The body was handed over to her family after completion of legal formalities, as no complaint was filed.
