KHULNA, Oct 18, 2025 (BSS) - Two minor children drowned in a pond at Khalishpur’s Goalkhali area in the city.

The deceased were identified as Momita, 09, daughter of Zakir Hossain, and Amena, 08, daughter of Polash, residents of Noyabati area under Khalishpur police station in the city.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Khalishpur Police Station Mir Atahar Ali said the incident took place when the kids were bathing in the pond, locally known as Belepukur, in Goalkhali area, today at noon.

As the two children drowned in the pond water, their family members jumped into the pond water and rescued them in an unconscious condition.

They were immediately rushed to Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH), where on-duty doctors declared them dead.
