RANGPUR, Oct 22, 2025 (BSS) - An auto-rickshaw driver was killed and a passenger injured in a road accident at Ekorchali bus stand on the Dhaka-Dinajpur highway in Taraganj upazila of Rangpur today.
The deceased was identified as Md Motaleb Hossain, 35, of Kishoreganj upazila in Nilphamari district.
The accident occurred when a Saidpur-bound passenger bus from Mymensingh swerved into the wrong lane and collided head-on with the auto-rickshaw, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Taraganj Highway Police Station Md Mostafizur Rahman told BSS.
Motaleb died on the spot, while another passenger was critically injured and sent to Rangpur Medical College Hospital.
Police seized both the bus and the damaged auto-rickshaw. The bus driver fled the scene. A case has been filed with Taraganj Police Station in this connection, the OC added.
