2 killed in Tangail road mishap

TANGAIL, Nov 3, 2025 (BSS) – Two persons were killed when a truck hit a CNG-run auto-rickshaw at the Gharinda underpass area on Dhaka–Tangail highway here early Sunday.
 
The deceased were identified as CNG driver Saheb Ali, 45, son of Kashem Uddin of Akua area and passenger Abdul Alim, 60, son of Nur Mohammad Sheikh of Bhokta area — both hailed from Kalihati upazila in Tangail.

Police said a Dhaka-bound truck hit the auto-rickshaw from behind on the service lane, leaving passenger Alim dead on the spot. 

Critically injured driver Saheb Ali was taken to Tangail General Hospital where he received primary treatment, and later died on the way to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Sub-Inspector Kamrul Hasan of Elenga Highway Police Station said the bodies were kept at the Tangail General Hospital morgue and would be handed over to their families after completing legal formalities.
