MANIKGANJ, Nov 9, 2025 (BSS) - Locally made dredger "Andharmanik-1" has been inaugurated at Aricha Ghat in the district.
Shipping Adviser Brigadier General (Retd) Dr M Sakhawat Hossain inaugurated the activities of the dredger on Saturday.
On the occasion, the adviser said the dredger was produced under the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) at a cost of Tk 400 crore, half the cost of an imported dredger.
He said the dredger is intended to improve the navigability of the country's rivers.
BIWTA Chairman Commodore Arif Ahmed Mostafa, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Shipping Delwara Begum, and officials of the local administration also attended the inaugural ceremony.
