CHANDPUR, Dec 12, 2025 (BSS) – A young man was killed and two others were injured early today when a covered van ran over them at Bhatiyalpur Chowrasta under Faridganj upazila of the district.

The deceased was identified as Mohammad Roman, 20, son of Jasim Jamadar of Jamadar Bari in the Purba Charkumira area under Faridganj municipality.

The injured are Bappi, 18, son of Rafiqul Haque, and Md Sohag, 17, son of Abdur Razzak—both residents of the same locality.

Local residents said Roman and his companions were walking towards Bhatiyalpur Chowrasta to buy fish after offering Fajr prayers.

When they reached in front of the Shital Patowary residence adjacent to Bhatiyalpur Chowrasta, a covered van hit them from behind around 6:30 am.

Locals rescued the trio and took them to Faridganj Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor declared Roman dead. The two injured are now undergoing treatment at Chandpur Sadar Hospital.

Faridganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Helal Uddin said police seized the vehicle along with its driver and helper.
