GAIBANDHA, Jan 5, 2026 (BSS): Village Defence Party (VDP) Day was observed in the district today with a call to maintaining internal security and preventing all sorts of crimes at the grassroots level.

Marking the day, the district Ansar and VDP office arranged various programmes. A grand rally was brought out in the town in the morning, followed by a discussion meeting held on the premises of the district Ansar and VDP office.

District Commandant of Ansar and VDP Md Abu Solaiman attended the function as the chief guest, while Sadar upazila Ansar and VDP Officer Tariqul Islam presided over the meeting.

Speaking on the occasion, Md Abu Solaiman said the Village Defence Party was established on this day in 1976 with the objective of maintaining internal security in rural areas alongside uprooting all sorts of social crimes at the grassroots level.

He urged the Ansar and VDP members to work with sincerity and patriotic spirit to build a beautiful Bangladesh by preventing social crimes at the grassroots.

A large number of Ansar and VDP members participated in the programmes.
