BAGERHAT, Jan 6, 2026 (BSS) - BNP nominated candidate for Bagerhat Sadar-2 constituency Barrister Sheikh Mohammad Zakir Hossain interacted with journalists from Bagerhat, Kachua and Chulkathi Press Clubs.

The meeting was held at his Sonatala residence on VIP Road in Bagerhat city on Monday night. Representatives from various electronic and print media and local media participated in the meeting. 

Former DUCSU student leader Rafiqul Islam Jaglu, district BNP member secretary Mozaffar Rahman Alam, former Jubo Dal president Fakir Tariqul Islam and other BNP leaders were present at the time. 

Journalist and Bagerhat Sadar Upazila BNP organizing secretary Kamruzzaman Shimul moderated the event.

 During the exchange of views, Barrister Sheikh Mohammad Zakir Hossain replied various questions of the journalists. 

He said, “The media is the fourth pillar of the state. Objective and responsible journalism strengthens democracy. I always respect the role of journalists in standing up for truth and justice.”

“Cooperation of journalists is crucial for the overall development of Bagerhat and ensuring good governance and rights of the people,” he added. 

He called upon the journalists working in Bagerhat to maintain honesty and impartiality in performing their professional duties.
