
KHAGRACHHARI, Jan 6, 2026 (BSS) - The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) today distributed blankets among cold-stricken families living in remote hilly areas of the district as part of its humanitarian assistance programme.
A total of 300 helpless and extremely poor families received blankets during the distribution programme held in the border areas of Panchhari upazila. The initiative was led by Khagrachhari Sector Commander Colonel Md Abdul Mottakim.
According to the BGB public relations wing, the programme was organised under the supervision of Khagrachhari Battalion (32 BGB). A view-sharing meeting was also held at Dain Chandrabari area of Logang Union in Panchhari upazila, chaired by Colonel Abdul Mottakim.
Addressing local residents at the meeting, Colonel Mottakim and Khagrachhari Battalion Commander Lieutenant Colonel Kamran Kabir Uddin urged people to remain vigilant against illegal push-ins and smuggling.
They also called on border residents to extend full cooperation to the BGB in preventing illegal activities and refraining from crossing the border unlawfully, particularly during the upcoming Tirthamukhi Mela (Paush Sankranti).
After the meeting, winter blankets were distributed among the cold-affected families. Colonel Mottakim said such welfare activities would continue in the future to promote peace, harmony and development in the border region, reaffirming that the BGB remains a symbol of trust and border security.
