BGB distributes blankets among cold-stricken people in Cumilla

CUMILLA, Jan 6, 2026 (BSS) - The Cumilla Battalion (10 BGB) distributed winter blankets among cold-stricken and distressed people in Chauddagram upazila of the district today as part of its humanitarian initiative.

A total of 600 blankets were handed over at the premises of Amangonda Adarsh High School under the supervision of the battalion to help vulnerable families cope with the severe winter cold.

Brigadier General Mohammad Saiful Islam Chowdhury, Region Commander and Additional Director General of BGB at Sarail Headquarters, attended the program as the chief guest. 

Cumilla Sector Commander Rakibul Hasan and Commander of Cumilla Battalion (10 BGB) Lieutenant Colonel Mir Ali Ejaz were also present, along with other officers, junior commissioned officers (JCOs), and members of the Border Guard Bangladesh.

Addressing the gathering, the speakers said that alongside safeguarding the border and preventing smuggling, the Cumilla Battalion remains committed to fulfilling its humanitarian responsibilities. 

They said that the blanket distribution program is part of BGB's regular winter activities aimed at supporting poor and distressed people living in border areas.
