VGF rice allocated in Munshiganj ahead of Eid

MUNSHIGANJ, March 11, 2026 (BSS) - The government has allocated 236.780 metric tons of rice for distribution among vulnerable families in the district under the Vulnerable Group Feeding (VGF) programme ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr.

Deputy Commissioner's Office sources said the rice allocation has been made by the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief against 23,678 VGF cards across six upazilas and two municipalities in the district.

Under the allocation, Gazaria upazila received 10.530 metric tons of rice for 1,053 cardholders, while Louhajang upazila was allotted 12.510 metric tons for 1,251 cards. Munshiganj Sadar upazila received 45.380 metric tons of rice for 4,538 cardholders and Sirajdikhan upazila was allocated 31.560 metric tons for 3,156 cards.

Similarly, Srinagar upazila received 25.990 metric tons of rice for 2,599 cards and Tongibari upazila received 18.310 metric tons for 1,831 cardholders.

In addition, 46.250 metric tons of rice each were allocated for 4,625 cardholders in Munshiganj Municipality and Mirkadim Municipality.

District Relief and Rehabilitation Officer Muhammad Mubinur Rahman said each VGF cardholder family will receive 10 kilograms of rice. He added that allocation letters have already been distributed to the respective upazila administrations for necessary action.
