Ex-JCD leader shot dead in Khulna

KHULNA, March 16, 2026 (BSS) - A former leader of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) was shot dead in broad daylight in Daulatpur area of Khulna city today.

The deceased was identified as Rashikul Islam Rasu, 30, son of Shariful Alam of Deyana area in Daulatpur. 

He was a former organising secretary of JCD's Daulatpur thana unit and was serving as a member of the city unit of Jubo Dal until his death.

According to police and eyewitnesses, the incident occurred around 11.30 am when Rasu was standing in front of his brick and sand business at KDA Kalpataru Market in the Daulatpur area.

At that time, a group of assailants opened fire on him, shooting three rounds. One of the bullets hit the back of his head, leaving him critically injured.

He was rushed to Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH), but he died on the way.

Dr Ashraf of the emergency department of KMCH said Rasu had died before being brought to the hospital.
    
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Daulatpur Police Station Shafiqul Islam said police were sent to the spot immediately after receiving the information.
