DHAKA, March 16, 2026 (BSS) - The Mohakhali Bus Terminal was inspected  by Road Transport and Bridges Minister Shaikh Rabiul Alam and senior officials of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) this morning to review security and management arrangements ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr.

During the visit, the minister spoke with passengers and observed ticket sales activities at different bus counters, according to a press release of the DMP.

He also inaugurated a women-friendly “Pink Ananya” toilet at the terminal to ensure better facilities for female passengers.

Speaking during the inspection, the minister said that Mohakhali Bus Terminal is one of the busiest terminals in the capital and passenger pressure increases significantly during Eid.

He noted that the administration is closely monitoring the situation to ensure passengers can purchase tickets at government-prescribed fares and that discipline is maintained within the terminal.

He added that authorities have received information indicating tickets are being sold at fixed or even lower fares at several counters, and so far no complaints have been reported regarding the collection of extra fares.

The minister further said that passengers are currently able to travel safely and in an orderly manner.

To prevent the collection of additional fares, he said that mobile courts and law enforcement agencies have been deployed at the terminal, and strict action will be taken against any violations.

Authorities are also monitoring fuel supply and checking the movement of unfit vehicles to ensure that passengers can enjoy a safe and comfortable Eid journey.

Among others present during the inspection were State Minister for Road Transport and Bridges Habibur Rashid, Dhaka North City Corporation Administrator Md. Shafiqul Islam Khan Milton,  Acting DMP Commissioner Md. Sarwar, and Additional Police Commissioner (Traffic) Md. Anisur Rahman.
