
DHAKA, March 16, 2026 (BSS) - The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested a
total of 40 individuals in special operations conducted in areas under
Jatrabari, Shyampur, and Rupnagar police stations to curb crime and maintain
law and order in the capital.
Deputy Police Commissioner of the Media and Public Relations Division of DMP,
Muhammad Talebur Rahman confirmed the arrests.
According to police sources, Jatrabari Police Station carried out a special
drive on Sunday in different areas under its jurisdiction and arrested 10
people allegedly involved in various criminal activities.
The arrested individuals are: Md. Zakir Hossain Mamun (42), Md. Shukkur Ali
(27), Mizanul Haque Antar (25), Shafin Md. Pritul (24), Ripon (19), Md.
Shawkat Hossain (18), Shuvo (22), Md. Sohag (30), Md. Roni (25), and Sajib
(27).
Meanwhile, sources from the DB Wari Division said that on Monday at around
12:45 pm, a raid was conducted in Mehendibari Furniture Goli area adjacent to
the IG Gate under Shyampur Police Station, where 19 individuals involved in
different crimes were arrested.
The detainees are: Md. Majnu Mia (40), Md. Anwar Hossain (50), Md. Rubel
Bepari (38), Md. Rafiqul Islam alias Rafiq (28), Md. Sahab Uddin (40), Md.
Enamul alias Pagla (35), Md. Anwar Hossain (51), Md. Mohiuddin Mia (45), Md.
Jewel Mia (41), Md. Shamsul Haque (68), Md. Ariful Islam (41), Md. Delwar
Hossain (49), Md. Osman (30), Md. Selim (45), Liton Guho (36), Sanjiban Dey
(38), Md. Ershad (50), Harun Howlader (48), and Md. Riaz Uddin (58).
Police said gambling equipment, drug paraphernalia, and cash worth Taka
20,306 were recovered from their possession during the operation.
In a separate drive, Rupnagar Police Station arrested 11 people on Monday
from different areas under its jurisdiction for their alleged involvement in
criminal activities.
The arrested are: Md. Sohel Rana (20), Md. Sohel (30), Md. Mostafa Molla
(60), Mohabbat Ali (28), Saad Alimul Islam (26), Md. Jabed Mia (38), Md.
Sohel Mia (40), Vikram Barman (26), Md. Naeem Hossain (24), Md. Alif Mia
(20), and Md. Sajjad Hossain (24).
Police officials said the arrested individuals have been sent to the
concerned court.
The DMP has vowed that such special operations will continue regularly to
maintain law and order in the capital.
