Policing activity strengthened on roads, highways in Gaibandha ahead of Eid

GAIBANDHA, MAR 19, 2026 (BSS) - Policing activity has been strengthened by the district police on the important roads and highways of the district ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr to ensure safe journey for the home-bound passengers. 

On Wednesday noon, Superintendent of police (SP), Gaibandha was seen monitoring law and order situation and vehicular movement on the highways at Chowmatha area under Gobindaganj upazila town in the district to ensure safe journey of the home bound passengers. 

During the patrol, he exchanged views with the passengers and briefed them. He assured the passengers saying that necessary measures have been taken to stop harassment of the home- bound passengers by any quarters on the roads and highways. 

Talking to the BSS, SP Jashim Uddin said it was his official duty to ensure safe journey for the returning passengers, who are coming from different areas of the country to share the Eid festival with their near and dear ones. 

He said plain clothed law enforcers including the DB police have been deployed at shopping centers, bus terminals and railway stations so that none could create anarchy and commit crimes like snatching and pick pocketing.

The home-bound passengers, who would come here from other parts of the country at night have been advised to wait at their respective bus counters till morning to avoid any untoward incidents like robbery and snatching, he added.
