Bodies of mother, daughter recovered in Bandarban

BANDARBAN, Mar 19, 2026 (BSS)- Police have recovered the bodies of a mother and her daughter from an area adjacent to an under-construction resort in the Dantabhanga Para area of Bandarban.

The deceased were identified as Do Wai Marma (26) and Brishti Tanchangya (4). They were residence of Kanapara area of Meghla.

Chairman of Bandarban Sadar Union Parishad Ong Sa Hla said a member of the union parishad informed him about the incident at around 11:00 am.

He claimed that the mother and daughter died after falling from an under-construction building, though it could not be confirmed.

Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) Manna Dey said the bodies were recovered with the help of locals. 

It is being investigated to unearth the cause of the death, he said adding various information are being collected from local residents. 

Manna said after the incident, the victims’ husband is absconding. The bodies have been taken to the Bandarban Sadar Hospital morgue, he said.
