MEHERPUR, March 29, 2026 (BSS) - A motorcyclist was killed and another injured in a road accident in Ponder Ghat area of the district town here on Sunday afternoon.

The deceased was Emon Hossain, 28, son of Babul Hossain, a resident of Bospara area of the town.

According to eyewitness Emon and Humayun were traveling towards Meherpur town from Mujibnagar on a motorcycle when it collided with an easy bike carrying wheat. The impact caused the wheat to spill onto the road, leading both riders to fall.

Moments later, a brick-laden tractor approaching from behind ran over Emon, causing critical injuries. 

Locals rushed both victims to Meherpur General Hospital where on-duty doctors declared Emon dead.

Officer-in-Charge of Meherpur Sadar Police Station Humayun Kabir confirmed the matter.
