Perol pumps fined for stop selling fuel despite having stock

CHATTOGRAM, Mar 29, 2026 (BSS)- A mobile court has fined a filling station in Hathazari upazila for halting sales of fuel despite having stock.

The fine was imposed on the Latif & Brothers Filling Station near Nazirhat Notun Bridge are Saturday night.

Assistant Commissioner (Land) of Hathazari Upazila Shahed Arman said the issue of suspension of fuel sale in the pump was brought to their attention on Saturday afternoon. 

Upazila administration conducted the mobile court at night. During the drive, it was found that the pump had about 6,000 liters of octane in its reservoir with 4,000 liters brought in from the depot on Saturday.

Arman emphasized that there is no provision for stocking up the petroleum in the pump, and as long as there is fuel in stock, it must be sold. 

The pump was fined Taka 10,000 under Section 20 of the Petroleum Act, 2016, for halting sales despite having stock. The court asked the owner for selling octane sales until the stock is finished.
