Rangpur city turns festive to welcome Pahela Boishakh

RANGPUR, April 13, 2026 (BSS)- Rangpur city is decked up with festive attire to welcome Pahela Boishakh, first day of Bengali New Year 1433, tomorrow.

 
People, mostly women and young girls, have gathered in markets and shops today ahead of the celebration to buy Boishakhi clothes and other items of their choice.

 
District administration, Shilpokola Academy, Begum Rokeya University, government departments, dozens of socio-cultural organisations and educational institutions have made preparations for colourful celebration of the Bangali New year festival. A preparation for Universal Boishakhi Shobhayatra and Boishakhi fairs are almost completed.

 
The programmes of the festival also include rallies, kite flying, painting exhibitions, rural Boishakhi fairs and games.

 
The celebrations will begin at 8 am in the morning with playing the national anthem and Boishakhi songs at the Banyan Tree premises of Rangpur Zilla School ground. 

 
At 10 am under the management of the district administration Universal Boishakhi Shobhayatra will bring out. Musical soiree will be held at Rangpur Town Hall ground at 11 am.
 

Artists from Shishu Academy and Shilpokola Academy and other cultural organisations will perform there. Cultural programmes include an essay and painting competitions for children.

 
District administration and National Association of Small and Cottage Industries of Bangladesh (NASCIB) will jointly organise a three-day folk fair at the Public Library Ground. The fair will be held from 10 am to 7 pm every day.

  
Improved traditional Bangalee diets will be served by the authorities in all hospitals, Rangpur Central Jail and Shishu Paribar center. 

 
Rangpur Metropolitan Police, District Police, RAB-13 and other law enforcement agencies will ensure overall security during celebration. 


Local commercial parks, hotels and amusement centers have taken preparations for welcoming the Bengali New Year.
