Boishakhi Shobhajatra in Ctg at 10 am tomorrow

CHATTOGRAM, April 13, 2026 (BSS)- All preparations are completed to celebrate Pahela Boishakh in Chattogram tomorrow.

Like previous years, the main programmes of the celebration will be held at DC Hill and CRB areas 

Organizers of DC hill Boishaki Mela Udjapon Parisad said this year's Boishakhi Shobhajatra will be celebrated under the theme 'Noboborsher Oikotan, Gonotontrer Punorutthan' (Harmony of the New Year, Resurgence of Democracy). 

The programme will begin with a procession from local Circuit House at 10 am. The procession will end at DC Hill after visiting different thoroughfares in the city.  
 
Niaz Mohammad Khan, Member Secretary of CRB Sommilito Boishaki Mela Udjapon Porisad said the procession will feature five motifs- rooster, violin, dove, elephant, and horse- symbolizing strength, creativity, peace, pride, and dynamism.

A group of 53 musicians will perform the national anthem and other patriotic and Boishakh related songs. Around 300 students from different schools and colleges will carry the national flag during the procession.

To ensure security and discipline, authorities have imposed several restrictions. Participants are not allowed to wear masks or carry bags. English placards, balloons, festoons, and fireworks are also prohibited, he added.
 
All events of the day must conclude by 6:00 pm, with entry permitted until 5:00 pm, after which only exit will be allowed. 

There will have help desks, a control room, and temporary medical camps in the programme venues to support the visitors in their emergencies.

Enhanced security measures, such as CCTV cameras and archways were taken throughout the venue. 

Chaitra Sankranti, marking the adieu of Bengali year 1432, will be observed at the DC hill and CRB area later today. Folk songs and dance performances will be man feature of the celebration from 4:00 pm to 6 pm.
City Mayor Dr Shahdat Hossain will inaugurate the function at CRB this evening.
