Over 1.77 lakh children to be vaccinated against measles in Satkhira

SATKHIRA, April 15, 2026 (BSS) - A total of 177,152 children aged between six
months and five years are set to receive measles vaccinations in the district
during a special campaign scheduled from April 20 to May 10.

The 11-day initiative will be conducted on consecutive working days, aiming
to protect young children from the highly contagious disease.

The announcement was made at a coordination meeting held at 10:30 am on
Wednesday in the conference room of the Satkhira Civil Surgeon's Office.

The meeting was presided over by Civil Surgeon Dr. Md. Abdus Salam, while
Deputy Commissioner Ms. Afroza Akhtar attended as the chief guest.

Among others present were Superintendent of Police Arefin Jewel, Deputy
Director of the Health and Family Welfare Department Rawshan Ara Zaman,
District Women Affairs Officer Nazmul Nahar, District Information Officer
Jaharul Islam, Medical Officer Dr. Jayanta Sarkar, Satkhira Press Club
General Secretary Asaduzzaman Asad, and former President Momtaz Ahmed Bapi.

The campaign is part of ongoing public health efforts to reduce measles
infection and ensure wider immunization coverage among children in the
district.
