
THAKURGAON, April 20, 2026, (BSS) - A "Measles-Rubella Vaccination Campaign-2026" has been launched in Thakurgaon to curb the ongoing measles outbreak.
The campaign was officially inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Rafiqul Haque at the EPI Vaccination Center of the 250-bed General Hospital, Thakurgaon, at 10 am on Monday (April 20).
After the inauguration, vaccine was simultaneously administered at different centres across the district.
Under this campaign, a total of 142,511 children will be vaccinated in Thakurgaon district. To meet this target, 1,363 vaccination centers have been set up in different parts of the district. Out of these, 6 are permanent and 1,357 are temporary centers.
During the campaign, the vaccine will be administered to all children aged 6 months to 5 years every day from 9 am to 4 pm.
Health department officials said that through this program, it will be possible to ensure comprehensive protection against measles and rubella among children in the district. For this, the voluntary participation of parents is very important.
District Civil Surgeon Dr. Anisur Rahman, Medical Officer Iftekhairul Islam and others were present at the inauguration ceremony.
