KHULNA, May 15, 2026 (BSS) – Stakeholders at a meeting have emphasized the urgent need to introduce an e-traceability system to strengthen Bangladesh’s shrimp and fish export sector and ensure long-term competitiveness in the global seafood market.

The meeting was held on Thursday afternoon at Rudaghara in Dumuria upazila of Khulna district. It was organized by the Fish Farm Owners Association Bangladesh (FOAB) with support from the Business Promotion Council (BPC) and cooperation from the Department of Fisheries, Khulna Division.

Speakers said digital tracking across the entire supply chain is essential to ensure quality assurance, transparency and compliance in fish and shrimp production and export activities.

The meeting was presided over by Molla Shamshur Rahman Shahin.

FOAB Project Director and fisheries expert Md Moniruzzaman presented the keynote paper and moderated the discussion.

Participants noted that maintaining Bangladesh’s reputation in the global seafood market depends on ensuring high-quality production at every stage—from farmers and producers to traders, processors and marketing agents.

They stressed that there is no alternative to adopting a standardized e-traceability system across the supply chain.

They also said successful implementation would require full participation and awareness among all stakeholders, adding that widespread use of digital tracking systems could significantly improve the country’s fisheries export performance.
