Fire Service and Civil Defense Week begins in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, May 20, 2026 (BSS) - Fire Service and Civil Defense Week was 
inaugurated in Rajshahi with due dignity and enthusiasm. 

Divisional Commissioner A.N.M. Bazlur Rashid inaugurated the week-long Fire 
Service and Civil Defence Week programme by releasing balloons and festoons 
at the city's Fire Service and Civil Defence Station as the chief guest, 
while Deputy Director of Fire Service and Civil Defence Monjil Haque of 
Rajshahi Division presided over the event.

Among others, Mohammad Shahjahan, S.M. Tuhinur Alam, Kazi Shahidul Islam, and 
Mohammad Naimul Hassan were present at the programme.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, the speakers said the role of Fire 
Service and Civil Defense is extremely important in tackling fires and 
various disasters. 

They noted that the programs of this week will play a vital role in raising 
public awareness and enhancing rapid response capabilities.

They urged everyone to be conscious of fire and accident prevention.
 
Earlier in the morning, a colorful rally was brought out from in front of the 
Fire Service and Civil Defense Station. 

With the theme "Firefighters have one vow: to keep lives and property safe," 
the rally paraded through key streets of the city. People from various walks 
of life participated in the rally.
 
The week-long program includes fire extinguishing drills, awareness meetings, 
training sessions at educational institutions, and exhibitions on rescue 
operations. 

Organizers said the main goal of these activities is to increase public 
awareness and preparedness in dealing with disasters.
