DHAKA, May 22, 2026 (BSS) - Police seized a pickup van carrying three stolen cows and a goat during a special drive in the Sholomile area under Raiganj upazila of Sirajganj district last night.

The operation was conducted by a patrol team of Raiganj Police Station as part of an ongoing special drive aimed at ensuring public safety and preventing criminal activities.

According to police sources, the patrol team launched the drive in the area following a tip-off and intercepted a suspicious pickup van.

During a search of the vehicle, the persons transporting the livestock failed to produce any valid documents for the three cows and one goat. Initial interrogation by police later confirmed that the animals had been stolen.

Police seized the pickup van in connection with the incident while the recovered livestock are being processed for return to their rightful owners.

Officer-in-Charge of Raiganj Police Station Ahsanuzzaman said police were continuing regular patrols and special drives to maintain law and order in the area.

"We are maintaining a strict stance against all forms of crime, including theft, robbery and drug-related offences. Efforts are underway to bring those involved in livestock theft under the law," he added.
