PM gives Eid bonus to sanitation workers

DHAKA, May 22, 2026 (BSS) - Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has provided Eid bonuses to sanitation workers of city corporations across the country.

He handed over Eid bonus cheques to the administrators and mayors of all city corporations across the country, said PM’s Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Ruman.

The Prime Minister also instructed the administrators to keep their cities neat and clean and stressed the importance of building clean cities. 

He also urged them to take initiatives to ensure regular cleaning of canals and drains in order to prevent waterlogging in urban areas.

During the event at the BNP Chairman's political office in Gulshan, LGRD and Cooperatives Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and State Minister Mir Shahe Alam were present.

Administrators and mayors from 13 city corporations, including Dhaka North, Dhaka South, Chattogram, Rajshahi, Barishal Khulna, and Sylhet attended the event.

Before Eid-ul-Fitr this year, the Prime Minister had also given Tk 5,000 each as Eid gifts to sanitation workers of the city corporations.
