RAJSHAHI, May 22, 2026 (BSS)- A video showing a ninth-grade school student being waylaid, beaten, intimidated, and terror being spread in the area in Rajpara Police Station in the city went viral on social media yesterday.

Immediately after seeing the video on social media, Commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP), Faizul Kabir, instructed the Rajpara Police to take legal action against this teen gang.

It is reported that a few days ago, an altercation took place between Rafid Hossain Rafi, a ninth-grade student of Court Academy, and another boy over a football game.

In retaliation, on Tuesday last, Rafid Hossain Rafi, 13, was returning home from school. After 3:00 pm, when he reached in front of the Food Office in the Rajpara Police Station area, several teenagers who had been lying in wait blocked his path due to the previous enmity.

Later, they, in a group, showed off their strength and dominance and beat the victim indiscriminately, causing abrasions and swelling injuries to various parts of his body.

At that time, a chaotic situation was created at the scene, and panic spread among the other students present. After the video of the incident spread on social media, it sparked widespread discussion and criticism.

The incident caused panic and disorder at the scene. Later, a local resident, Abdur Rashid, 35, came forward and rescued the victim. The complaint also states that the accused threatened to kill the victim if he told anyone about the incident.

Following the incident, the victim's father filed a written complaint at Rajpara Police Station. Taking the matter into cognizance, Rajpara Police registered a case against Johurul Islam, 19, Sohag Hossain, 19, Abir, 18, and Anik, 19.

RMP Deputy Commissioner (CTTC) Gaziur Rahman said the prime accused, Johurul Islam and Sohag Hossain were arrested today from their respective homes.
