TANGAIL, May 22, 2026 (BSS) - A luxurious air-conditioned (AC) bus service of the Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) has been launched on the Bhuanpur-Dhaka road in the district.

BNP Vice-Chairman and MP for Tangail-2 constituency Advocate Abdus Salam Pintu officially inaugurated the AC bus service from Nalin Bazar in Bhuanpur upazila to Dhaka Medical this morning.

The BRTC AC bus will travel daily from Nalin Bazar in Bhuanpur to Dhaka Medical and fare has been fixed at Tk 350.

Also present at the inauguration ceremony were Upazila BNP General Secretary Selimuzzaman Talukder Selu, Poura BNP General Secretary Khondkar Lutfar Rahman Gias, and Hemnagar Union BNP General Secretary Jahangir Hossain, among others.

Local passengers reported that due to the syndicate and monopoly business of private buses operating on this road for a long time, ordinary people had become hostages. Time-wasting, mid-route bus changes, overloading, and misbehavior by staff were daily occurrences on most buses plying the Bhuanpur-Dhaka road. As a result, regular office-goers, students, and female passengers suffered the most. Many, forced to avoid this extreme hardship, would go to Elenga at extra cost and trouble to travel on long-distance buses.

The launch of the BRTC AC bus service has brought a sigh of relief to ordinary passengers.
