Motorcyclist, pillion passenger killed in Habiganj road accident

HABIGANJ, May 26, 2026 (BSS) - A motorcyclist and his pillion passenger were killed when a truck hit their motorcycle on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway in Madhabpur upazila of the district early this morning.
 
The deceased were identified as Abul Bashar, 35, son of Abdul Baten from Beghred village in Rupganj upazila of Narayanganj and Ashiq Ahmed, 25, son of Selim Mia, a resident of Khilkhet area in Dhaka.
 
The accident occurred around 1:00 am in Saheb Bari Bus Stand area under Noapara union of the upazila, police said.
 
According to police, the two friends had started their journey from Dhaka to Sylhet on a motorcycle. When they reached Saheb Bari area on the highway, an unidentified Dhaka-bound truck hit their motorcycle, leaving both riders dead on the spot.
 
After receiving information about the accident, members of the Shayestaganj Highway Police Station rushed to the scene, recovered the bodies and took them to the police station.
 
Police later completed the necessary legal formalities and handed over the bodies to the victims' relatives.
