
GAIBANDHA, June 1, 2026 (BSS) - World Milk Day-2026 was observed in the district today, as elsewhere in the country and across the globe, with a call to inspire women farmers to boost milk production and help build a healthy nation.
This year's theme was "Celebrating Women Farmers".
Marking the day, the district Livestock Department chalked out various programmes.
At around 11am, a post-rally discussion on the significance of the day was held in the conference room of the District Livestock Office here, with District Livestock Officer (DLO) Dr Md Abdur Razzak in the chair.
Deputy Director of the District Artificial Insemination Centre Shahidul Islam Akanda addressed the function as the chief guest.
Gobindaganj Upazila Livestock Officer Dr Abdus Samad, Sadar Upazila Livestock Officer Tarun Kumar Datta, and Upazila Veterinary Surgeon Dr Ruhul Kabir Riyad, among others, also spoke at the meeting.
Speaking at the function, the deputy director of the District Artificial Insemination Centre said there is no substitute for milk in building a healthy nation and a prosperous Bangladesh under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
In his concluding speech, DLO Dr Md Abdur Razzak said the department is implementing various activities to raise public awareness about milk production, its nutritional value, milk yield and economic importance.
A number of district-level officials, dairy farm owners, invited guests, and journalists from print and electronic media attended the programme.
