Mobile court fines illegal fire extinguisher refilling factory in Narsingdi

NARSINGDI, June 15, 2026 (BSS) - A mobile court today fined a factory owner Tk 60,000 for illegally refilling fire extinguishers without obtaining the required licenses and approvals in Madhabdi upazila of Narsingdi.

The drive was conducted by Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate Md. Khalid Hossain Shimul at 1:00 pm at Gomoti Fire Technology in Bhagirathpur under Meherpara Union of Madhabdi Police Station. 

During the inspection, the mobile court found that the establishment had been refilling fire extinguishers without a BSTI license, fire service license, or approval from the Deputy Commissioner's office.

Besides, the refilled fire extinguishers were found to lack essential information such as manufacturing and expiry dates.

Based on a prosecution filed by BSTI Assistant Director Nikhil Roy, the factory owner was fined Tk 60,000 under the BSTI Act, 2018 and the Consumers' Rights Protection Act, 2009. The fine was realised on the spot.

Members of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and Madhabdi Police Station assisted in the operation. A deputy director of BSTI was also present.
