Coast Guard seizes phensidyl, Indian medicines in Satkhira

BAGERHAT, June 15, 2026 (BSS) - The Bangladesh Coast Guard seized phensidyl worth around Tk 33 lakh and Indian medicines in Shyamnagar upazila of Satkhira.

Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujan confirmed the matter this afternoon.

He said the Coast Guard regularly conducts drives in coastal and border areas to prevent drug trafficking, smuggling and other illegal activities.

As part of such operations, a special drive was carried out by Coast Guard Station Kaikhali at around 1 am today in the area adjacent to the Boro Hogaldora Canal under Shyamnagar Police Station, based on secret information.

During the operation, Coast Guard personnel seized 1,319 bottles of phensidyl, valued at about Tk 33 lakh, along with a large quantity of Indian medicines that had been smuggled in through customs evasion.

Legal procedures regarding the seized items are currently underway.

He added that the Coast Guard will continue such operations in the future to curb smuggling and drug trafficking in the coastal regions.
